A Cerebral Vascular Accident, commonly referred to as a stroke, occurs when some area of the brain does not receive sufficient oxygen. Strokes often cause a sudden loss of neurological function, typically resulting in short-term or permanent loss of motor skills. Symptoms of a stroke may include numbness, muscle weakness, and loss of sensation. Muscle weakness is common in extremities and usually partial to one side of the body.
