Freedom Disability is a national Social Security Disability advocacy group. We provide education and representation services to help people with disabilities, in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, file for disability benefits from the Social Security Administration (SSA).

We are professional, compassionate, and responsive to every person who chooses us to advocate for them to get the disability benefits they deserve.

How Our Advocates Work for You

  • Your Advocate works with you to build the highest-quality application to give you the best chance to win benefits.
  • If your first-time application is denied (SSA denies 63 percent of first-time applications), your Advocate will get you through the complicated appeals process.
  • Our Advocates understand the challenges you face and are committed to getting you the disability benefits you deserve.
  • It is our job to help you get back the freedom to live your life.

More to Know about Our Services

There are no upfront fees required from you for choosing Freedom Disability to help you win disability benefits.

Freedom Disability receives a percentage fee on back benefits for you and your dependents.

Our fee is determined by SSA and is paid to us by SSA only if we win your case.

Freedom Disability provides compassionate and efficient advocacy services to thousands of individuals with disabilities every month.

Our SSA-accredited Advocates had to pass a rigorous testing process from SSA to prove their expertise in the field of Social Security Disability.

I was diagnoised and with jacksonia seizures from my doctor that I used to see and low chronic back pain from my family I used to see but no longer see them cause I don’t have issurance and can’t afford to see them. I tried to apply for disability and they sent me to thier doctor and then told me since I wasn’t blind, deaf, or mute that I was able to work and since I wasn’t able to see doctors and get on the medicine that I have no claim. Can you please help me? Chris.

    • Freedom Disability, January 23, 2013 at 1:45 pm

      Chris,

In order for us to assist you, you will need to have medical treatment from your own Dr. (SSA Dr does not count) within the last 9 months. In general, you will need recent medical treament to be approved for SSDI. I would look into free clinics in your area if you are unable to see your family doctor.

An initial applications takes approximately 4-6 months. I hope this helps!

About a year and a half ago I applied for Social Security for my son who has a disability. He has been diagnosed with Mental retardation and Autism. They denied me due to my income they said. Now I am unemployed and only recieving Food Stamps. I applied while I was living in California and now living in Virginia. I have a few questions- 1) where does the Social Security money actually come from? 2) What is the difference between SSI & SSDI? 3) If I lose the case who pays for your services? Also- I heard that I could get paid for staying home to care for my child. Is that true?

    • Freedom Disability, February 12, 2013 at 11:32 am

      Roseanna,

The answers to your questions are as follows:

      1) You pay into Social Security through your payroll taxes (FICA)

      2) The difference between SSDI and SSI is that Social Security Disability (SSDI) provides benefits to the disabled or blind individuals who are considered “insured” because of their contributions to the Social Security trust fund. These contributions are the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) social security tax paid on the workers’ earnings. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) is a needs-based program designed to help you if you’re disabled, blind, or 65 or older and indigent. The program is only for people who have very limited income and assets.

      3) Freedom Disability only gets paid if we win your case.

      4) Certain states may offer these type of benefits, so you would have to contact your state department

My son is recieving SSI benefits for his condition, but one month after he got out of the hospital, his benefits were lowered based on the living situation. However, i had reported when the living situation had changed. And their response letters had incorrect information, i was told they never recieved my reconsideration form when they had, and they have been giving me the run around for 6 months. I have lost my place to live, and i would appreciate it if someone would contact me if you could help, or point me in the direction of someone who can.

    • Freedom Disability, February 12, 2013 at 11:39 am

      Trina,

I’m sorry, Freedom Disability wouldn’t be able to assist. However, I recommend contacting your local Social Security office and asking them what your next steps should be. I wish you and your family the best of luck.

      Latoya,

I can’t tell you exactly why because I do not know your case specifically. However, Freedom Disability may be able to assist you. My husband was on disability and recently reached full retirement age. His dependents are recieving spouse and minor child payments under his record for the last 1.5 years. We recently recieved a letter stating our payment was incorrect that increased our monthly dependent payments. My question is why is this not back paid? Did it increase because her reached full retirement age (his benefit did not increase) or because they found the error when changing him over to retirement benefits from disability?

    • Freedom Disability, February 18, 2013 at 5:15 pm

      Felicity,

You will need to call the Social Security Administration regarding this as there could be numerous reasons why this occured.

  • Joseph Christopher DePauw, March 9, 2013 at 5:18 pm

    Freedom Disability,
Social Security Administration has denied my Social Security Benefits after lived on Social Security Benefits as disabled four years. Since then, year 2010, reapplied and appealed for Social security Benefits as disabled, and as of year 2012, Social Security Administration is stating non disabled.
My disabilities have not changed for the better, the Social security Benefits are needed. Is Freedom Disability able to make my Social Security Benefits possible to me. Is there a way to speak, type, with an Eligibility Consultant online, a hearing disability on calling. The other disability is eyesight.

My Husband was being treated for GIST cancer, had part of his stomach removed and was on chemo pills for 3 years, is bipolar and had a very mild form of prostate cancer plus chronic prostatitis and back problems. He was denied at every level, even district court. I requested a copy of the file and a recording of the hearing. His file was a mess and my Husband was not ready for that hearing. Can we change lawyers for his new claim (filed by the attorney 11/12) which we must wait for a hearing on? I know he can win his case, but we want to make sure the information social security receives is correct. After 4 years of him not working our finances are getting bad. We would like to get a bench decision if possible, but need to get them the right info.

    • Freedom Disability, April 15, 2013 at 3:44 pm

      Susan,

You can change representatives and unfortunately we will not be able to assist due to having prior representation. However you will need to speak to your current representative to see if your representive will waive fees associated with the claim or speak with a new rep and have them find out about waiving fees from the previous rep for you. Good luck!
